One thing I love about living in the country, and specifically at this house, is the ditch that runs right outside. I remember when I was little racing sticks through the culverts, racing sticks and sometimes homemade boats down the ditch, and looking for snails. I love watching my children play these same games; exploring and enjoying nature. I could watch them for hours as they play- without any electronics - only their body and minds.
On Labor Day the kids were playing in the ditch and captured a frog. It was a frog to behold. I have to say, I have never seen such a big frog in all my ditch exploring days. The poor animal was our entertainment for the afternoon, and thankfully, in the evening, Kellie returned him to his native habitat. I love these country moments.
